Gabriele Nerucci Begins His Research Stay Abroad
We are pleased to announce that Gabriele Nerucci, a doctoral candidate at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, has embarked on an important research period abroad. From October 2024 to April 2025, he will be hosted by the prestigious weed science group at INIA-CSIC (Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria) in Madrid, Spain.
Under the guidance of Dr. Eva Hernández Plaza, Dr. Nerucci is conducting a crucial part of his Ph.D. and the LEG-ITA project. His research focuses on analyzing weed communities in chickpea cultivation using methodologies developed by his Spanish colleagues. Specifically, he is studying:
- The floristic composition of weed communities
- The functional and taxonomic diversity of these communities
- The influence of intercropping with wheat and different chickpea cultivars on these diversities
In addition to his research work, Dr. Nerucci is actively collaborating with the Spanish research group on various projects, enriching his educational path with a valuable international experience.
We wish Gabriele Nerucci good luck for this significant chapter of his academic career and the personal growth that will come with it, marked by international collaboration.
